Work completed a toolsUsed First, I drew layout of lever and linkages of my machine on cardboard. I drew each lever separately. I used pencil and ruler to draw layout lever and linkages of my machine on cardboard. Also, I referenced drawing of measurements of lever and linkages I made in plan phase. Second, I cut the layout of lever and linkages that I drew in previous step using cutting mat and craft knife. I put cardboard on cutting mat. Then, I cut the drawing using craft knife following the line that I drew.
People consulted No one.
Challenges/Difficulties forced While I was cutting pieces (parts) of lever and linkages that I’m going to use in my machine, it was really hard to cut it with following the line. cut the wrong place. I was kept getting out from the line.
Evaluation of progress I’m at progress where I should be, where I thought you’d be. I’m achieving at the expected level. If I could do this steps again I’ll cut layout of lever and linkages I’ll take more time and cut it more genteelly to make sure that I’m cutting line that I drew.

Work completed a toolsUsed First, I put each pieces (parts) of lever and linkages that I cut, on A4 paper in different spaces. Then, I just drew edges of each pieces (parts) using pencil. I just follow and drew the edges of each piece. Third, I cut the drawing that I drew the edges of pieces (parts) of lever and linkages using scissor. Lastly, I stick the paper with part (pieces) that I made the copy of. For example, if I drew the edges of part 3 on A4 paper and cut it, I stick that paper with part 3 using glue.
People consulted When, I was sticking paper and parts (piece) of lever and linkages I asked to Mr. Thorburn if he has glue, because, my glue didn’t work well.
Challenges/Difficulties forced When I was sticking paper and pieces (parts) of lever and linkages my glue wasn’t good quality. So, I had difficulty with stick paper and pieces together. I thought I need to stick the  paper and parts (pieces) stick together is due today. But, actually it was plan of next period.
Evaluation of progress I’m one period ahead. I planned to stick paper and pieces together next period, but I just did it.

Work completed a toolsUsed Today this period, I colored the pieces (parts) with color blue. Last period, I stick paper and pieces (parts) together. I colored those pieces with color blue. I used color pencil blue to color it. Second, I wrote process journal of this period right now.  Which means, I’m writing process of this period in this period.
People consulted I asked Mr. Thorburn about “Evidence of Testing” section in process journal and he said, it’s not for all process journals. And that, I need to do it after I finish building my product. And it’s about checking whether my product meet testing against specification that I did in research part.
Challenges/Difficulties forced While I was coloring pieces (parts) of lever and linkages with color blue. It was little bit difficult to color it. Because, my color pencil blue wasn’t sharp so I had to sharp it with pencil sharpener several times.
Evaluation of progress I’m one period ahead since last period. According to my plan, , I’m suppose to stick paper and lever and linkages together, which I finished last period. Today, I color the lever and linkages, which was plan for next period.

Work completed a toolsUsed Today, I didn’t build my product. Today was short period and class was used to check grades. So, we weren’t allowed to build our product. This period, I worked on writing process journal of this period right now.
People consulted Mr.Thorburn told us to be ready to answer 5 questions on manage bac to check our grades. But, I could found it ,so I asked him where the questions are.
Challenges/Difficulties forced Today, there were no challenges and difficulties for me with writing process journal.
Evaluation of progress So far, I’m at where I’m supposed to be, I used to be 1 period ahead but now I’m writing process journal this period, which was not plan for next period.

Date 11/4 – Double Period

Work completed a toolsUsed Today, I connected parts (pieces) of lever and linkages using ratchet rivets and cut the image of fish and penguin and color the fish with color pencil orange. Also, I stick fish and penguin image on lever and linkages of my machine.  Lastly, I cut foam board size of 20 cm (width) and 15 cm (height) using scissor and stick it below machine. First, I put circle on place that I’m going to make hole using punch. Then, I made holes using punch on place that I made circle in previous step. Third, I put ratchet rivets on holes using measurement drawing I made in development phase. Next, I cut the image of penguin using scissor, image that I printed for homework. Then, I stick image of penguin on part 3 of lever and linkages using glue. Next, I cut the image of fish using scissor. And, I colored image of fish with color orange using orange color pencil. And, I stick it on part 2 of lever and linkages using glue. Lastly, I cut foam board using scissor and stick it below my machine using glue gun. I made a line
People Consulted When I was cutting foam board, I didn’t know whether I need to use craft knife or scissor. So, I asked Mr. Thorburn and he said I should use scissor.
Challenges/Difficulties forced It was really difficult to put ratchet rivets on holes I made on parts (pieces) of lever and linkages. Because, hoes I made using punch was so small. Also, it was hard to know place to put ratchet rivets. Because some breads in example were hiding. Lastly, it was hard to stick 2 syringes underneath white foam board.
Evaluation of progress I’m 2 periods ahead. Because, I connected parts (pieces) of lever and linkages using ratchet rivets and stick images of fish and penguin on lever and linkages and put foam board underneath mu machine. If I could do this again I would not mistake like making a punch in wrong place using punch. Also, if I could do this again. I would stick another paper behind penguin and fish because, they’re just paper so they might get ripped or get crumpled.

Work completed a toolsUsed Today I came late to class because of school photo. So, I only had about 10 minutes to work on my product. So, I decide to not work on my product. I just decide to write process journals in 10 minutes left.
People consulted I haven’t checked grades and feedback from development phase. So, I asked Mr. Thorburn if I can discuss about my grade this period, but he said he couldn’t because other people is building.
Challenges/Difficulties forced  None.
Evaluation of progress I’m one period behind. Today, I’m supposed to finish sticking 2 syringes underneath white foam board. But today, I didn’t have enough time to stick 2 syringes underneath white foam board.

Date 11/14- Double Period
Number of periods left 1 period left.
Work completed a toolsUsed Today, I finished building my product. I put 2 syringes underneath my machine. And I added foam board beneath 2 syringes. First, I tried to stick syringe underneath white foam board. But, even I used Sellotape and glue gun to stick syringes underneath white foam board, syringes kept falling off from white foam board. I discovered that syringes are falling off because part of syringe that I’m trying to stick with white foam board is so small. So, I decided to increase surface of top of syringe. First, I cut dowels to 2 small pieces using hacksaw. Then, I rub the edge of small pieces of dowels with glass paper to make it smoother. Then, I stick those 2 small pieces of dowels on top of syringe using glue gun. Then, I cut cardboard to small piece of rectangle using craft knife and cutting mat. Then, I stick that small piece of cardboard on 2 dowels I stick on top of syringe using glue gun and extra paper to test glue bun. I did those steps to another syringe to stick it underneath white foam board. After, I finished putting dowels and cardboard on each syringes. I stick those syringes (top part- cardboard) underneath white foam board that I marked with pen last period. But, syringe from left part of foam board kept falling off. So, I had to glue dowels and syringes again and stick it underneath that cardboard using glue gun. Finally, I succeed in gluing both syringes underneath white foam board. But my machine didn’t stand still because, 2 syringes were unbalance. So, I decide to add something else at the bottom. I cut white foam board to rectangle size of 20, 15cm using scissor. And, I put that white foam board on bottom of my machine using glue gun. So, I glued 2 syringes with white foam board I cut in previous step.
People consulted When, I was cutting dowels with hacksaw, Mr. Thorburn taught me proper way to use hacksaw. He told me to hold hack saw strongly and move it straight.
Challenges/Difficulties forced Putting 2 syringes underneath white foam board was really challenging. It took more than an hour to do it. Syringe kept falling off from cardboard. So, I had to glue several times to stick syringe and white foam board.
Evaluation of progress I’m not sure if I’m ahead or behind. Because, deadline for construction has been extended to 20th November. According, to my plan deadline was 12th of November, so I’m 2 periods behind. But, according to new deadline I’m one period ahead because, I have one more period to work on construction phase. If I could do this again, I will stick syringes with foam board only once, really hardly, so I don’t need to stick it several more times.

<Evidence of Testing>

  • Target Market

My target market is a young child. After building full product, I will ask least 5 people whether my product is suitable for young children or not.

Result: I asked Jessica, Akane, Miyu, Mr.Thorburn and Timur, whether they think my product is suitable for young children or not and they all said Yes except for Timur. Timur think it’s not suitable for young children because, it’s too dangerous for young kids.

  • Size

I need to make sure that height of my product is 27cm and width is 16.5cm by measuring them with ruler. Or comparing size of my product with stuff that has 27cm height and 16.5cm width.

Result: I measured the size of my product with ruler. And, height of my product I got is 39cm and width of my product I got is 20.5cm

  • Weight

I need to make sure that weight of my product is about 1.2 kg. By measuring weight of my product using scale.

Result: I measured weight of my product using scale and it was 0.1kg.

  • Height

I can test that height of my product is 27cm by measuring length from the bottom of my product to top of my product.

Result: I measured length from the bottom of my product to top of my product using steel ruler. And, the result is 39cm.

  • Functions

My product “Penguin and Fish” has 2 functions. As lever and linkages works, it will look like penguin is eating a fish and as I pull 2 syringes it will look like penguin and fish are going up. I will test those 2 functions by using mechanisms. First, to check whether it looks like penguin is eating a fish when I pull the lever. I will pull lever and linkages. Second, to check whether it looks like penguin and fish are going up, I will pull 2 syringes and see whether it looks like penguin and fish are going up.

Result: First, I pulled lever and linkages to see whether it looks like penguin is eating a fish. When, I pulled lever and linkages it looked like penguin is eating a fish. Second, I pull 2 syringes to test whether it looks like penguin and fish are going up. The result is, it looked like penguin and fish are going up.

  • Materials

Materials I’m going to use to build “Penguin and Fish” are cardboard, A4 paper, ratchet rivet, white foam board, and syringes. I will make sure that I’m using those materials by taking a note of which material I used each period or taking a picture of material I used.

Result: I took a picture of materials I used to build “Penguin and Fish”. And, result is I used all the materials listed above to build “Penguin and Fish”. But, I used dowel as well, which is not included in list above.

  • Tools

Tools I’m going to use to build “Penguin and Fish” are steel ruler, craft knife, cutting mat, pencil, scissors, glue, blue color pencil, mac book, snip saw, punch, orange color pencil, glass paper, glue gun. I will make sure that I’m using only those tools by taking a picture of every tool I used to build “Penguin and Fish”.

Result: During create stage, I took a picture or made a note of every tool I used to build “Penguin and Fish”. And, result is I used all the tools listed above except for snip saw and nothing else.

  • Quantity

I can make sure that I’m building only 1 “Penguin and Fish”, by counting it. And, during create stage, I can count amounts of materials using. And make sure, I’m preparing only 1 for each material.

Result: I count the amount of “Penguin and Fish” I made and I counted amounts of materials using during create stage. And, the result is I build only 1 “Penguin and Fish”

  • Aesthetic Appearance (Shape, Color, Texture)

I will check aesthetic appearance of my product matches my specification by sending survey to people. And ask them if they think my product matches my specification.

Result: Yes. I compared specification of Aesthetic Appearance I made in Research phase and my product. And, my product matched all the specification points of aesthetic appearance.

  • Cost

I will calculate cost of all materials used in my product, plus my effort and make sure it’s about 5 dollars

Result: I calculated cost of all materials I used to build my product. And result is, 0$. Because, I used all the materials for free.
